Wallace Cheves

Wallace Cheves is an established entrepreneur, investor, and community advocate whose work ranges across real estate, gaming, manufacturing, and professional sports. Born in Greenville, South Carolina, he learned the value of perseverance and hard work at the age of eight, when he swept floors in a machine shop to save for a bicycle. At sixteen, he was selected as a student ambassador to travel overseas, an experience that ignited his lifelong interest in international business and public service.

Cheves studied Government and Business at Wofford College. After graduation, he moved to London, where he built his expertise in international business. He returned home to Greenville, South Carolina, where he built a portfolio in residential development. After leading the development of multiple developments, he shifted his business interests to the booming gaming industry, rising to the position of Director of Government Affairs at Collins Entertainment and founding the "Vote Yes" political committee to channel gaming revenue toward public education.

In 1999, Cheves launched his firm and began a two-decade run of successful international ventures. He assembled hospitality, casino, supply chain, and residential projects in Europe, South America, and Asia. He secured back-to-back South Carolina Supreme Court decisions that protected gaming operations along the coast. He purchased a Georgia gaming supplier and carried out high-end real estate projects in North and South Carolina.

One of his most influential work started in 2008 when the Catawba Indian Nation asked him to secure federal approval for a gaming enterprise. After more than ten years of litigation, lobbying, and environmental review, Cheves obtained land-in-trust status for the tribe in 2020, paving the way for Two Kings Casino in Kings Mountain. The resort, which opened in 2021, now supports education, healthcare, and infrastructure for over 3,000 residents of the Catawba tribal community.

Cheves has since expanded into professional sports as co-owner of Greenville Triumph and Greenville Liberty soccer clubs. He played a central role in the development of a new downtown stadium, now under active construction, supported by major corporate partners, including GE Vernona. The clubs have invested heavily in youth academies and community programming through their foundation, funding adaptive soccer clinics and YMCA partnerships. Cheves also helped secure Brazilian soccer legend Ronaldinho as a club ambassador and owner, elevating the sport’s profile across South Carolina.

Beyond sports and gaming, Cheves invests in companies through his family office, Cheves Capital, which strengthens regional supply chains and creates skilled employment opportunities in local economies. He is a principal in the development of a medical glove factory in Columbia, South Carolina, and an early backer of a successful nationally sold wellness drink. Through the newly created Santee Development Corporation, he is leading plans for a privately financed resort that will transform a vacant outlet mall site into a tourism and convention hub, bringing thousands of jobs to an underserved area of South Carolina.

Cheves’s leadership and economic impact have been recognized by Greenville Business Magazine, which named him to its annual list of the 50 Most Influential People of 2025.

Philanthropy remains central to his work. Cheves and his wife fund a family scholarship at their children’s school, led fundraising for the renovation of Prisma Health’s neonatal intensive care unit, support the Myers Center for Children and operate a backpack program providing weekend meals to elementary students in need.

Cheves and his wife, Sloan, have four children: Beau, Darby, Eden and Rhett.
